Ready for some baseball

Published by zlobe at 7:13 am under Uncategorized Edit This

The Phillies are back in town, finishing off the 2009 exhibition season with two games at Citizens Bank Park against Tampa Bay. It is a rematch of the World Series, except this time the games are meaningless. The first game was Friday night, with the Phils beating the Rays 3-2.

The big story, however, was Pat Burrell’s return to Philly. In the offseason, the Phillies’ outfielder, who had been with the team for nine seasons, signed with the Rays to be their designated hitter. Before the game there was a video tribute for Pat, a fan favorite, and as he acknowledged the fans he received a standing ovation.

I will be at the ballpark both today and tomorrow attending the next two games. The first is another exhibition against Tampa. The second will be opening night against Atlanta. I can’t wait to start another season!
