Phillies looking at Nomar
Several sources have confirmed that the Phillies are showing interest in free agent infielder Nomar Garciaparra. Nomar is a 2-time American League batting champion, but that was quite a long time ago, 1999 and 2000. I was surprised to learn that he is 35 years old already, and he is not even sure if he will play in 2009. If he is, the Phillies are interested, though he would most likely be a bench player. It must be nice to be in the Phillies’ position as World Champs. Most of their key players will be back, all that is needed is some tweaking to things like their bench. We will see if Nomar decides to play, and if so, for which team.
