Veterans cemetery is dedicated today

Published by zlobe at 12:03 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

For many years, people in the Philadelphia region have been calling for a veterans cemetery to be constructed. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has established 125 national cemeteries in 39 states and Puerto Rico. But currently, the closest cemetery to Philadelphia is over 100 miles away in Lebanon County. After lengthy discussion, a site in Upper Makefield Township, Bucks County, was chosen for a new cemetery. It is right near Washington Crossing Historic Park. Today a dedication ceremony was held at the site by Sen. Arlen Specter and VA officials. It is good to see that construction will be starting soon for a cemetery in the Philadelphia area honoring our veterans.
