Back to school… already?
The kids in the school district where I live start school Wednesday of this week. And the neighboring district started today. Now I know that starting school in August is actually pretty common in some parts of the U.S., but it never used to be that way in the Philly area. In my youth, my district always started school the Wednesday after Labor Day and I’m pretty sure that is still the case. In my opinion, school should not be starting before Labor Day. When it does, the holiday only disrupts the beginning of the school year, and schools should just let the kids enjoy summer while it lasts. It certainly did go quickly, didn’t it?
