Montauk Monster: Beach Creature Update

Published by zlobe at 8:58 am under Uncategorized Edit This

You may remember a couple of weeks ago I posted a story about the bizarre Montauk Monster that washed up on a beach in New York. There is not much new to report in the story, but the mystery remains as to what exactly it is. Although some experts have ruled out sheep, dog, sea turtle, and rodent, there are others who still see these as possibilities. Animal expert Jeff Corwin has mentioned on Fox News that he thinks that the creature is a slightly decomposed dog or raccoon. Darren Naish, who is a British paleontologist, also thinks it is a raccoon. The strangest report I have heard again comes from Fox News, who reported speculation that the creature is a decayed capybara.

Capybaras (pictured above) are the world’s largest rodents, and I guess if you remove the fur, I can see the similarities. The legend has continued to grow, but I don’t think we will ever know what the monster is or where it came from.

A capybara is probably the least likely animal - they are found in South America - it would be incredible for a capybara to be living on long island…unless someone has it for an illegal pet?
