Madden 2009 released: Favre officially cursed

Published by zlobe at 6:09 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I am not a huge video-game player, but I have played some Madden football in my day. Well, EA Sports has released the 20th anniversary Madden 2009 edition, with who else but Brett Favre on the cover. John Madden’s love affair with Favre is well documented. The video below is Frank Caliendo doing an impression of Madden reacting to Brett Favre being traded to the Jets. Sorry, it’s not actually a video, it’s audio only of the Mike and Mike show, but still funny:

However, I have to ask why is Favre on the cover now instead of a young, dominating star? He is clearly at the tail end of his career, not to mention he announced his “retirement” months ago, yet they left him on the cover as a member of the Packers. You can actually download new rosters and a new cover for the game that depicts Favre in a Jets uniform. Either way, the infamous Madden Curse, which appeared to be broken with Brett on the sidelines earlier this offseason, looks to be in full effect now that he is playing. I predict that it will not be a good season for him.
