First ever US Sports Film Festival comes to Philly

Published by zlobe at 9:30 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Now, Philadelphia doesn’t win a lot of sports championships (the Soul do count, notice I said “a lot”). And maybe Cleveland got picked to house the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over us. Once in a while, though, our city gets the national spotlight, or at least get to be the first in something. For instance, we are the first city with its own wireless network…. uh, scratch that.

Well guess what? This October, Philadelphia will host the first-ever U.S. Sports Film Festival. Over 50 films will be featured at the event, which will run October 23rd through the 26th. You can bet the movie Invincible will be one of the films shown. They’re even trying to get Vince Papale to be there to answer questions afterwards. I am not sure about Rocky, but that would not surprise me. As far as other sports films, what others do all of you think should be shown at the festival? Post your favorites here, and then you can go to www.lpsportsfilmfest.com and try to submit them for consideration. Let’s help make this the coolest Philly event since Live 8. Okay, since Live Aid.

    Most excellent.

Hey tell us something about the skatepark, (or send me a link if you’ve done a post already). Our eleven year old daughter is dying to go down to Philly and start skating. I’m cringing, thinking of broken bones and my husband reads something about it being one of the best in the states?
